John Barrowman Teases Upcoming Cardiff Visit; Could Torchwood’s Captain Jack Harkness Be Making a Comeback?

Though I’m woefully behind on Arrow at the moment, John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn has been one of my favorite characters on the series. The character might be very different from his other well-known (Torchwood) role, but Barrowman always has a little Captain Jack going on. The abomination that was Miracle Day aside (we should all just wipe it from our collective memory),  I couldn’t be more excited by the idea of a Harkness return to the Doctor Who/Torchwood universe which, is that what Barrowman is teasing here? In Cardiff for a book signing — he and sister Carole penned Conjuror  together — Jack’s alter ego thanked the city for its support, and added that he’d be back in a week or so, for mysterious reasons.

Interestingly, the Barrowmans also recently announced they’d be resurrecting the Torchwood comic; I suppose the return to Cardiff could have something to do with that. But if that were the case, why the secrecy? Isn’t it more likely he’s filming a little Doctor Who guest thing, either for this year’s Christmas Special, or perhaps a lead in to a Series 10 appearance? With next year’s Who being Steven Moffat’s final series, it’d be a perfect time to bring back Jack to meet up with the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his new Companion, Bill (Pearl Mackie).

I’m crossing my everything, and voting YES, PLEASE to this kind of miraculous Harkness return. What the world most definitely needs now is more flirty, funny, bisexual characters.
