Everything about Netflix’s new mystery/drama/science fiction hybrid series feels like a love letter to the 80s — and Steven Spielberg — from the look of kids bike riding through neighborhoods on long summer nights,
to Winona Ryder (hello, wall phone landline),
to its conspiratorial-government-covering-up-secret-alien-project theme (I hope she’s calling Scully).
And, I can’t freaking wait. In two weeks, this wonderfully nostalgic Goonies cum E.T. (I see a little Barrymore Firestarter-ish thing happening, too) love letter drops into our Netflix streams. Here’s the second trailer for the Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things.
I’m off to buy more popcorn; meet me by the garage July 15th.
Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Matthew Modine.
