I almost can’t speak. There’s hardly a thing to say. There’s something about Denzel Washington and Viola Davis together that is pure magic; impossible to describe. Who cares if they’re Oscar contenders again this year; we already know they’re the best of the best.
Damn, when Viola says: “Well, I’ve been standing with you; I got eighteen years of my life to stand in the same spot as you ….”
Fences is based on the August Wilson play about a man making peace with his life and family, lost dreams and racial barriers, and the complicated relationships between the people he loves. Davis and Washington reprise their 2010 Tony-winning lead roles, and Denzel also directs; costarring Jovan Adepo, Stephen Henderson, Mykelti Williamson, Russell Hornsby, Saniyya Sidney. Fences opens Christmas Day.
