Fantastically Talented Phoebe Waller-Bridge Will Head New Series, Killing Eve

If you’re not already familiar with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, haven’t watched Fleabag on Amazon, the first thing you need to do is remedy that right now. I can hardly come up with proper praise for her amazing performance, nor convey enough excitement she’s being properly recognized as the huge talent she is. Just watch it! You shouldn’t need more convincing than the review, but just in case, check out the trailer.

Now if, on the other hand, you’ve already seen the series, you’ll understand my dancing at this news;

Waller-Bridge will executive produce and be showrunner on the just announced BBC America series, Killing Eve. Based on Luke Jennings’ Villanelle thrillers, the show revolves around the cat and mouse relationship between titular assassin Villanelle, a psychopathic killer who truly loves her job, and Eve, a security services operative, conversely bored and daydreaming of being a spy. Airing in eight installments, the action thriller/black comedy features two extremely intelligent women and combines “brutal mischief making and pathos” but all we really want to know is:  dear gods, is Pheobe staying behind the scenes, or will she make our dreams come true by also starring?

Fleabag ***Spoiler*** Ahead

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see, but clearly this is a woman who NEEDS to play an assassin.

Killing Eve will debut on BBCA in 2018.
