Apropos of these ever darkening days, news that Bong Joon Ho’s first English language film is coming to television is both exciting and thought-provoking. After all, with the new — I can’t even say it — administration nearly upon us, class-separated anarchy and a frozen landscape can’t be far off.
Among the merits of such news: Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, War of the Worlds) will be showrunner, and Bong and Chan-wook Park (The Handmaiden, Oldboy, Stoker) will executive produce the series.
The bummer is that since the film’s actors are all huge movie actors and the show will air on TNT, we have about, oh … zero shot of getting any of the film’s glorious cast on board. So, probably none of this:
Don’t much mind skipping the Bell-spit, but no this …
is so disappointing.
Still, there’s abundant room and a perfect niche in the dystopian TV worldview that houses Westworld, The Walking Dead, Humans, and The Leftovers; Snowpiercer can slide right in and use the opportunity to grab up a similar audience. All they need is the right …
… cast.
There are a whole slew of great HBO actors about to be freed up soon. Just sayin’.
