Stranger Things Season 2 Will Bring Secrets, Different Kinds of Horror, and an Otherworldly Pet

Looks like Netflix is going to leave us frothing at the mouth for Stranger Things‘ second season a looooooong time. Here we are, only in the early days of February, and they’ve already released the first teaser; now we’ve got a few new photos (Eleven’s hair!)  and some interesting plot details. Via EW, here’s the new scoopage.

Does Dustin adopt that thing Will coughed up?

Because, of his new “polliwog-like pet”,  Gaten Matarazzo says:

It’s a little creature I get to bond with. It’s obviously not from this planet or this dimension.”

Um, onto better things?

Co-creator, Matt Duffer says new brother and sister team, Max  (Sadie Sink) and Billy (Dacre Montgomery) are a mixed bag; Max will pal around with our favorite kidpack, with Dustin and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) maybe interested in a little more than friendship. But, Billy … Billy might have issues:

Stephen King always has really great human villains. The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that.”

Okay, then. How’s Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers faring? We know she has a new boyfriend, Bob Newby (Sean Astin); what about him?

She’s trying to mask a lot. I think she’s made this choice with Bob because she wants a good father figure in her sons’ lives.”

Well, isn’t that romantic nice? Poor Joyce.

Is Chief Hopper’s (David Harbour) doing better … maybe if Bob is just around for stability, there’s still a chance we’ll see a little Joyce and Hopper (JoPper?) action?

Hopper is attempting to keep all the events of last season, like the disappearance of Barb, a secret in order to protect Joyce and the kids. It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, ‘This did happen and this didn’t happen’ … He’s struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up.”

Okay, so too distracted for romance, I guess. Wah-wah.

Brother and sister Mike and Nancy Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard, Natalia Dyer) are bummed over Barb and Eleven’s “seeming” deaths (we know Barb isn’t coming back), Will (Noah Schnapp) is traumatized by his experience in the Upside-Down — and having flashbacks — and the lab has been taken over by someone new; Paul Reiser’s Dr. Owens.

So, is there any truly good news out of all of this? Well, as you can see by the header pic, Eleven grew out some groovy curls, and since the show returns on Halloween, the gang’s all going out Trick or Treating as …

Meet you in the Upside-Down!

Stranger Things returns to Netflix October 31st.
