Well, there’s not really a surprise, because after all the drama about other actors who might play James Bond, Daniel Craig has reportedly been coaxed into doing just one more — the as yet untitled Bond 25. Most of the world is just fine with this non-development; we’ve become accustomed to Craig’s rough, gruff iteration that reads more Connery than Brosnan or Moore.
Things like this don’t hurt, either.
Though the Spectre-wearied actor once said he’d rather “slash his wrists” than do another Bond movie, his time away and a nice production of Othello have left him feeling refreshed and ready for a proper sendoff. Multiple sources say that Craig’s conversations with producer, Barbara Broccoli are “going the right way” since she produced his 2016 New York play to great acclaim.
Daniel was very pleased with how ‘Othello’ went and the great reviews. Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script … and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.”
So for now, all is well and good in Bond-land, and the hunt shall wait for another day.
But, lest you think that after Craig finishes his run, a certain once and former contender will still be in the race, Barbara Broccoli has struck down that possibility in the most scathing way imaginable. That same source claims the Bond producer — who pretty much has final say over any pick — has made her feelings about Tom Hiddleston quite clear:
Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.”
Gosh, I wonder why she’d say that?
It’s okay, Tom; we still have those fond, pre-Swift memories, don’t we?
And, you still have The Night Manager, Season 2! All is not lost, it’s just … you’ll never be
