In another smart pairing, Netflix just scored a partnership with BBC Two to release David Hare’s (The Hours, The Reader) upcoming original miniseries, the four-part thriller, Collateral. And not for nothing, but the cast is simply brilliant.
Nope, not keeping this a secret my friend.
Carey Mulligan stars as Detective Inspector Kip Glaspie, investigating the death of a pizza delivery guy she suspects is something more than just another London murder. Joining her are Doctor Who alumni, Billie Piper, and returning Master (Whee! He’ll meet Michelle Gomez’s Missy), John Simm. Simm plays a politician — David Mars (as in, Life on?) — who becomes involved in the case through his ex-girlfriend, Karen (Piper). Head spinning yet?
Joining the group is the phenomenal Nicola Walker (Unforgotten, River, MI-5) as vicar, Jane Oliver, who’d been having a secret affair with the deceased; she’s also the only witness to his death.
With this cast, Hare’s tendency for award-winning writing, and S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Orange Is the New Black) directing, Collateral goes directly on the must-watch list. It’ll air simultaneously on BBC 2 and Netflix sometime in 2018.
