Danny Boyle and writing partner, Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) are reuniting again, this time for television, and oh, what a cast they’ve rounded up. Boyle is directing the pilot episode of FX’s 10-part anthology series, Trust, which is centered on the Getty Oil family, specifically the time frame (1973) when heir to the business, 16 year old John Paul Getty III was kidnapped (and mutilated) in Rome. Let’s start with the patriarch, JP Getty, played by none other than Donald Sutherland, and go from there.
Brendan Fraser as PI and fixer, James Fletcher Chace
Hilary Swank as JPG III’s mother, Gail Getty
Michael Esper (Nurse Jackie, Elementary, Frances Ha, A Beautiful Mind) as John Paul Getty Jr. (III’s father)
Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats, Clique, Silent Witness) as JP Getty III, held by the mafia for $17 million.
Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Edge of Tomorrow) and Anna Chancellor (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Fleming, New Blood)
Veronica Echegui (Fortitude, Apaches) as Luciana, youngest mistress of Getty.
Sophie Winkleman (Red Dwarf, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) — unknown role
Trust airs on FX, beginning in January 2018.
