Dany’s Clearly Prepared to Burn King’s Landing in Game of Thrones‘ ‘The Dragon and the Wolf’, and Will Bran Introduce the Originals?

***Spoiler Warning: This post discusses Game of Thrones events through Season 7, Episode 6. Spoilers***

HBO has released promotional photos for Game of Thrones‘ jumbo (79 minutes, 43 seconds) 7th season finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf”, and while most of the shots are nothing unexpected, one character’s absence is a huge reveal. We know Jon and his slightly merry men are headed to King’s Landing, White Walker in hand, to prove to Cersei that the dead army is indeed real.

We’ve seen part of this conversation in the 7.7 teaser;

“There’s only one war coming …”

Jaime and Bronn observe Daenerys Targaryen’s full force — Unsullied and Dothraki — assembled,

and back at Winterfell, Sansa is in power mode …

… but she’s also elsewhere, in stealth mode, Catspaw dagger presumably clutched beneath her gorgeous cloak. Mission accomplished, perhaps?

There’s a shot of Theon; I’d guess awful Euron is back for the finale, and my gut tells me he’s killed Yara — partially, because of Pilou Asbæk’s bragging; also due to this shot, which I’d guess is Theon’s breakdown after he finds out.

You’ll notice one very important character is missing from all the photos, yielding two clues about 7.7. Number one, these Lannister soldiers are beside Jaime, readying their arrows to shoot at something … someone, and their aim could be Daenerys’ army …

or it could be the Dragon Queen, herself? There’s only one reason Dany wouldn’t be in attendance at the summit with Jon, Tyrion, Cersei and Jaime, and that’s because she’s riding a dragon, prepared to burn the Lannister forces to the ground should Cersei refuse to listen to reason (and, I think we all know Cersei will never listen to reason).

And, though many people probably think the finale episode title refers to Daenerys and Jon, I think we’re actually about to receive a wonderful, parting gift. Putting together an earlier clue and these shots of Three-Eyed Bran — which likely mean it’s vision time, again —

I do believe we’re about to see a flashback to that wedding Gilly read about, between Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, the original Dragon and Wolf.

Game of Thrones seventh season finale airs on HBO, this Sunday, August 27th.
