FX is picking up a fourth current project (American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Feud) with showrunner extraordinaire, Ryan Murphy (and his partner, Brad Falchuk); as per usual, it sounds wonderful and glorious, and it’s star power just went next level.
Hot off her Emmy win for Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany will get to show off another of her many talents …
… as a modern dance teacher in 1980s New York City. The actress, a trained dancer herself, will be working with a particularly talented student, Ryan Jamaal Swain’s “Damon”;
their performances will be choreographed by Grammy nominee, Ryan Heffington (Chandelier, We Exist). And that’s just the tip of the Pose-berg.
Five actors discovered through a nationwide search — Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross, Indya Moore, MJ Rodriguez and Hailie Sahar — have joined as regulars; the series will feature the largest transgender cast in history, and all will star as transgender characters.
Focusing on people from different walks of life during the rise of the (gag) “Trump-era luxury universe, downtown literary and social scene, and the ball culture world”, Pose will also have a few familiar faces — most notably, current AHS darling, Evan Peters, who plays New Jersey native, Stan, who gets caught up in the NYC “glamor and intrigue”,
and in her first television role since House of Cards, fellow AHS-er, Kate Mara stars as Stan’s wife, Patty.
James Van Der Beek takes on the role of financial bigwig and Stan’s boss, Matt.
Billy Porter plays Pray Tell (Oh, RPM!),;
Dylan Burnside is Ricky;
Pose will air on FX, date TBA.
