Ghosts, Werewolves, Demonic Possessions and Zombies: Jemaine Clement Teases New Zealand’s What We Do in the Shadows Spinoff, Wellington Paranormal

Back in August we reported the news our favorite New Zealanders — and vampire buddies — Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi were collaborating on a What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series called Paranormal Event Response Unit — and apparently New Zealand will get its own separate show; Wellington Paranormal.

The American one is about vampires in America. Our one is about cops.”

That’s right, there are TWO spinoffs going. Speaking with Stuff, Clement recently revealed a few nifty tidbits about the alternate version, although there is a bit of sad news in that some of the crew didn’t make it through filming.

Aside from the loss of life, shooting of the comedy/reality show seem to be going well, considering the influx of werewolves and zombies, dealing with demonic possessions … oh and a possible gateway to hell.

Clement discusses WWDitS officers O’Leary and Minogue following the Wellington police for about a month, a party that got a “bit out of hand”, and then he dropped this delightful nugget:

Dare we hope …?

Maybe not, but Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) is “expected” to make an appearance during Wellington Paranormal‘s six half-hour episodes airing onTVNZ 2 in mid-2018, after which we presume the stateside streaming and premium networks will fight each other to obtain rights. I KNOW YOU HEAR ME, NETFLIX.

You can watch the entire interview here, and we’ll update on Paranormal Event Response Unit as we can dig it up.
