Instead of Going to the Movies, Why Don’t You Just Put a Bag Over Your Head? Meet Poptheatr

Things are getting strange.

On the one hand, I can see how this sort of device would appeal to some people and on the other, I can already feel myself gasping for air.

The Kickstarter backed Poptheatr is billed as “our own private theater that provides you with a comfortable, personal viewing experience when watching on your mobile device”.

Here’s a look at the product, and a demonstration.

I’m trying to keep a straight face, but as someone who’s seen many a pop up hamper

… I’m feeling like

Poptheatr is something your 6 year old might use on a backyard campout.

I don’t know about you, but just looking at the pictures makes me feel a little claustrophobic,

and don’t even get me started on people sneaking up on you while your head’s in a bag.

Still, some folks clearly think Poptheatr is a good idea; as of this morning, the project has been pledged $9618. of its $40k goal.

Now, if you’ll pardon me, I need to find something to clear my head of this nightmarish image.
