No One Here Gets out Alive: The Second Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Imparts a True Sense of Peril and Heroism

Now here’s something really different.

Most of the time when I’ve seen an Avengers movie trailer (and often even the movies themselves), I haven’t felt like the gang is in any real danger. That is, there are fights to be had, explosions to blow things to smithereens, and ridiculously fun action sequences, but let’s get real — who ever thinks the Avengers are really in trouble?

The Russo Brothers are shaking things up, and this teaser is striking evidence of a tonal change. This time, the bad guy is less comical (sorry, Ultron); he means business. And from what we’ve already seen and heard, this time, not everyone might get out alive.

From its opening …

… to the myriad characters banding together as one …

against a common enemy,

here’s hoping Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, the Guardians and the Avengers+ can survive this mess,

and live to fight another day. Or charm, as the case may be.

Gamora’s just playin’ him, right? (edited to add, as Craig pointed out, that’s a flashback with little G.)

Avengers:  Infinity War is in theaters April 27th.
