The day and the title we’ve been waiting for is finally here, and they seem . . .
. . . much quieter than expected. That’s my take on the new name and trailer for Avengers: Endgame (not such a descriptive title as to be the spoiler some have made it out to be), and it feels like this first tease is mere prelude to another trailer coming somewhere down the line.
There’s not much action but still, it’s exciting to see a bit of new footage that includes serious emotions from all our favorite characters
— well, the ones who are left, anyway —
as we hear confirmation that Thanos’ goal of wiping out half the earth’s population was achieved.
Still, there are a couple surprises; one is the return of an old friend . . .
. . . the other, a little unexpected help arriving at the front door.
I know we’re supposed to feel somber over the losses suffered in Infinity War, but I can’t help believing (to quote another Doctor) a little wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff is headed our way.
Until then, or until the next trailer, I’m just going to keep with Cap and peek at Peggy about once every hour. I suggest you do the same.
Avengers: Endgame is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and hits theaters April 26, 2019.
